Re: How to use archive.org to host and feed podcasts? |
I think you are misunderstanding what i'm trying to do... so here's a better explanation of my question:
I, along with some friends, have been producing an audio podcast for a few months now and been using
www.podbean.com as a hosting site and a podbast blog.
(our podcast is at
http://anotherworldispossible.podbean.com )
For the free account we have now (and cannot afford to pay for an account now) podbean.com only allow up to 100mb for storage on their servers, and we have over 24 hours of audio podcasts and a whole bunch of subscribers thru itunes, and other podcast programs.
When we were first thinking of starting up a podcast, I found ourmedia.org and it said that it could be used as a podcast host. I've (since then) been trying to figure out how to transfer our podcast from podbean.com to ourmedia.org in a way that the podcast feed is coming from ourmedia.org instead of podbean.
Right now, we're listed in the itunes podcast directory, and many subscribers use itunes to find and listen to our audio podcasts, however since we're drastically limited in space on podbean.com servers we've been only keeping the newest podcasts on podbean servers, and moving the older files to archive.org and linking them and using their embedded players on the podcast blog...
We need to switch to another host for our podcast that will be able to hold ALL the files at the same time, because as it is now, people who are searching for our podcast on itunes, only see the most recent 5-6 podcasts (the most recent 100mb of files) and do not see the other 22 hours of recordings on different topics.
How can i change this? Is there a way to use ourmedia.org or archive.org as the host for ALL of our audio podcasts and how do i get the files i upload to ourmedia or archive to feed to itunes as our podcast? If this doesn't make sense, please email me back, i've been trying to find out the answer to this question for quite a while, to no avail...
(you can see what i'm talking about if you look at the site, particularly the audio files near the bottom of the page to see the difference in display and how i've been hosting from archive.org and using an embedded player)
I'd appreciate if you took the time to look at this and help me switch over to hosting ALL our files on ourmedia or archive.org and using your site as the podcast feed that goes to itunes, thereby allowing the itunes store to show all the podcasts we've created...
Thank you so much for your time!

Same question... I know that you can upload content via archive.org (and the new flash upload button or ftp) or via yourmedia (but that got too unreliable a year or two ago and I gave up and used archive.org direct).
But archive.org lists a number of PODCASTS. How do you get your uploads to appear as a podcast, instead of just random and unconnected uploads in the audio collection?

Re: How to use archive.org to host and feed podcasts? |
Thank you for trying to help but Item #224 from the faq addresses how to add multiple items. It does not address how to establish an RSS feed. I realize it may be easier to establish a collection and post each item individually but what we are doing is posting them all as one item (many files, one item) so that they all show up in the the player at once. We're trying to take that one item, and as it's updated have the new track show up in people's RSS feed. What our goal is, is to have an RSS feed that people's RSS readers can automatically look to and will update each time we add a new audio file, without having to manually type in the xml ourselves each time we upload a new file. If anyone has any idea how this might be accomplished I'd really appreciate it.
Many Thanks
Cyt

A Podcast is so much more than a storage place for ypu files. I suggest uting a blog of your choice that provides an rss-feed and then using perhaps feedburner.com to make sure the RSS is a podcastrss (embedded links to mp3-files , itunes tagging etc)
IA is just a place to store your files, It doesn not have the necessary tools for podcast
