Not closed to the idea, tight on cash though.
Wanted to stay in the 50-80 dollar range.

Ya sorry man can't help you on that but there are some cheap nano iPods u could get not a ton of memory but you could throw a few shows on it my wife has one and I think she paid 60 for it and it holds close to 500 songs. Check that out and iTunes is easy to use! Good luck

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
Start out with an under $25 one from any store. I have several that I've bought for $12. Today any chain drugstore has some. If you lose it or wash it acccidently you will not be out much. Find one that takes a cheap SD card for memory and you can load up years of music.

Try craigslist/eBay or anywhere else that has used stuff for sale. Alot of folks are upgrade junkies and sell there old electronics, which are still perfectly useful. The devices can be be reset to start from scratch.
Worth it for sure. You will love the sound quality and convenience.

Ditto on the ebay route. Got my used 120 GB iPod "classic" for $80. Sure, sometimes buying used can be a crap-shoot, but ebay has gotten better about their purchase-protection.

iPod classic 160 GB is the only tool for the serious music collector. And iTunes is perfect for arranging live music- create each show as a playlist.

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
My favorite tool to maximize storage space is to sort all the shows by song then "uncheck" every LLR, Seastones, Sunrise, Drums/Space (sorry, I rarely say to myself "Gee, I need a smokin' Drums right now), every Brent tune, tuning, "take a step back", etc.

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
Of course, a steadfast refusal to venture beyond 1978 (or in some cases 1968) neatly avoids the Brent tunes issue and also does away with the need for unticking Sailor/Saints, Pushes Coming to Shove, Brothers Esau and sundry ill-advised cover versions.
You know, I think there are still some sad individuals around who live in superstitious dread of some nameless terror befalling them if they dare to skip even a single second of tuning. Too bad everyone can't be as enlightened as us. :-)

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
I almost hate to admit it, but there two or three (or perhaps just one) Esau that I really like. Same for Sailor/Saint; on the rare occasion Jerry actually seems to be having fun and rips up the final jam. Although rare is the key word, more often then not they seem to muff the crescendo at the end.
33 this AM in the desert. Nothing like a 90 degree temp. shift from just three months ago.

You're edging into frosty there. What's your nighttime temperature dropping to this time of year? It's staying around 43F/6C all day here at the moment and definitely more than a touch of grey to the weather. Got to be thankful for ready access to bountiful music to brighten up the day.

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
Nightime can dip into the high 20's occasionally, but then can go up into the mid-60's. Winter is usually dry as a bone around here so there is nothing to keep any warmth in at night.
EDIT: Any use of "bones" in combination with "warmth" is strictly prohibited

Re: MP3 Player Suggestions ? |
Can you spell "maritime climate monotony blues"?
In climate lecture, I compare coastal SF of 1968, using the address of 710 Ashbury St as an example, to that of Lawrence, KS, and the hotel where Clyde Barrow slept in 1931 or so on MassAchewSits Ave to reveal the stark contrast in weather in relation to land mass, and drought, but independent of latitude.
Ready for the quiz?
